Ireland's Timeline: On The Precipice, by Debra MacCoy

Help & AdviceReading time approx 1 min

Homes in Ireland are not the first to fail because of iron sulphide minerals such as pyrite and pyrrhotite. Families in Connecticut, USA, and in Canada have been through the same slow-moving disaster. Debra (Debbie) MacCoy has followed these crises closely, and has written a book on Ireland's.

Who is Debbie MacCoy?

Debbie MacCoy is from Connecticut in the USA. Since 2016 she has advocated for affected homeowners, and researched, investigated and campaigned, in Connecticut, in Canada and here in Ireland.

She has been hugely supportive of Irish homeowners, speaking at conferences in the USA, Canada and Ireland. With her remarkable memory and eye for detail, there is very little about these crises that she does not know.

What is the book about?

Her book, Ireland's Timeline: On The Precipice, is a labour of love. It brings together her passion and years of research in a reference-style book.

It sets out the story in detail, from when homeowners first discovered there might be a problem right up to the present day, and everything in between. It also describes similar problems in Canada, and the lessons Ireland can take from them.

We are grateful to Debbie for her dedication to our crisis and her meticulous work over so many years.

Where can I read it?
